The Department of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto – Temerty Faculty of Medicine offers complete postgraduate training in General Paediatrics, all of the paediatric subspecialties and a large number of clinical fellowships. 

The University of Toronto/Temerty Faculty of Medicine - Department of Paediatrics:  

  • Has the largest Core Paediatric Royal College approved training program in the country, with approximately 100 residents.   

  • Offers all of the Royal College accredited subspecialty training programs available in Canada. 

  • Offers several training programs in Areas of Focused Competence (AFC). 

  • Offers 50+ Clinical Fellowship Training programs, in a broad array of clinical areas. 

  • Is proud to host 400+ learners across all of its training programs. 

  • Hosts trainees representing 50+ countries from around the world.

Free Standing Programs of the Royal College

Paediatric Neurology: Trainees do one year of paediatrics prior to entering their 4-year neurology program. 
Medical Genetics: Trainees do approximately 6 months of paediatrics through the first and second year of their training program.
(Neither of these two specialities is certified as paediatricians at the end of their training.)

Subspecialty Training Programs (Accredited by RCPSC)

Accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Candidates must complete their core paediatric training, which is four years in Canada, to qualify for subspecialty training.  There are subspecialty residency and fellowship options available for both Canadian and international medical graduates.
