Striving for excellence in fundamental, translational and clinical research is a core mission of the Department of Paediatrics. Under the leadership and direction of Dr. Annie Huang, Associate Chair of Research, our Vision is to make disruptive/innovative science an integral part of training and clinical care for children across all paediatric disciplines at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and all of our partnered hospitals within the Child Care Network. Our Mission is to leverage our unique strengths to develop new science/collaborations, train, recruit and retain scholars with skills for transformative, impactful paediatric care.

Dr. Indra Narang receives 2026 Inclusive Leadership Award
Congratulations to Dr. Indra Narang, recipient of the 2026 Inclusive Leadership Award from the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS). This international award recognizes leaders who have made sleep medicine and sleep research more inclusive and accessible. As Vice President, Health Equity and Inclusion at SickKids, Senior Scientist, and Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto, Dr. Narang has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing equitable care, inclusive research, and improved health outcomes for children and families.

Research Impact Award - Recognizes a physician within 10-20 years of appointment to an academic health sciences centre, who has generated a body of research that is exerting a major impact in a field of study.
Dr. Lillian Sung (Haematology/Oncology)
Sustained Excellence in Research Award - Recognizes sustained excellence in research by a physician with more than 20 years of appointment to an academic health sciences center, who has demonstrated far-reaching impact through innovation and/or leadership.

This award honors a mid-career Society of Neuro-Oncology member who has shown early success and promise for significant career achievements in Neuro-Oncology through research, education, service, advocacy, and clinical performance.
